There are a lot of easy ways to upgrade the look of your bathroom with decor. Rugs, hand towels, and counter top bathroom accessories are all great options. However, the one that will likely make the biggest impact is upgrading your cabinet pulls and knobs. This option is especially good if you’re not in the market to update you entire vanity or sink. Here’s why a cabinet hardware makeover is a smart option.
Cohesive Design Through Cabinet Hardware
Updating your bathroom cabinet hardware gives you the opportunity to thread in an overarching home decor style into your bathroom. For instance, if you have a fleur de lis emblem that appears in multiple places in your home, you might consider using fleur de lis cabinet pulls. Or, if your accent metal is brushed nickel, follow suit in your bathroom hardware choice.
These seemingly subtle details build on one another as you move in and out of spaces. It evokes a cohesive feel and bonds independent spaces through decor.

Cabinet Hardware Functionality
Improved functionality is another reason why a cabinet hardware upgrade is a smart option. Too small knobs or pulls that are too shallow are not only a nuisance, but can make a big impression on guests. This is because a bathroom is a space we experience in an intimate way. When you’re away from home you tend to notice things like height of a toilet, which side the toilet paper holder is on, the length of a tub, and faucet style.
For overnight guests that may be storing items in cabinets, they’ll likely interact with the hardware or lack there of in some cases. If you’re missing hardware, consider adding it. While you may like that sleek cleans surface look, remember that your guests may not have the same ability or dexterity as you. They may struggle making use of drawers and cabinets with no hardware, particularly if they’re older with ailments such as arthritis.
Guest bathroom decor and design should accommodate as many people as possible. I assure you, your attention to this detail will be appreciated even if it seems trivial to you.
Inexpensive Cabinet Upgrade
Changing up your guest bathroom cabinet hardware is an inexpensive way to upgrade your space. Not only are there fewer pulls/knobs than a kitchen or master bathroom, this task doesn’t require any specialized skills. This is an easy, inexpensive DIY project. The one exception to this rule is if you’re starting out with no existing hardware at all. In which case, you’ll need to drill holes to complete this project. Otherwise, its as simple as unscrewing a few screws.
