Hi, it's Lindsay Diane from dianedecor.com

In this video, we're going to talk about Home Problem Solvers. These are all items that I found on Amazon that are solving nuisance problems all over
0:15
my home and I wanted to share them with you just in case you're having the same issues too
0:20
Let's get started. First up is a magnetic doorstop. I didn't even know these things existed, but I am so glad that I found it
0:32
I have two doors that are problems in my home. One is the door that leads in from the garage that always wants to swing closed
0:40
The other one is a door to a bedroom that when I open the windows, there's a crosswind
0:46
action that slams that door shut every time. It startles us, it's loud, and it happens every single time I try to open the windows
0:56
For both of these things, we're always trying to find things to hold the doors open for
1:00
a while whether I want to have the windows open or if I'm unloading groceries, unpacking
1:05
the car, the kids, whatever it is. When I need that garage door open so that I can make multiple passes back and forth
1:13
it never wants to stay open. I always end up propping something against the door to keep it open
1:20
Now I don't have to worry about that anymore because of the magnetic doorstops
1:24
These were so inexpensive, they came in a pack of two. I was able to adhere them to the wall and the door without having to drill any holes
1:35
Although it does come with the hardware, the screws and the anchors, if you wanted to screw
1:41
it in, you absolutely do not have to do it. The little 3M sticky pads are extremely strong and will stick and hold that doorstop in place
1:52
And when you need to pull it away, it will hold everything firm in place
1:56
So basically how this works is you have two options. You can mount it from the floor or you can mount it up against the wall
2:03
For me, I mounted it up against the wall. I just removed the old doorstop
2:08
Mine was actually screwed into my trim. So you just untwist them and they uncoil from their little setting
2:17
And I pulled the doorstop off. Just above it, I placed the new end of the magnetic doorstop
2:25
I lined it up with the door and stuck the other end onto the door and that was it
2:31
I just let it sit for a few minutes. There really aren't great instructions with this because it's pretty self-explanatory
2:38
but it doesn't really tell you how long you have to wait before you use it. Honestly, I used it right away
2:43
I have no problems with it. But normally when you're sticking something that's supposed to hold and you sort of wait
2:49
you're supposed to wait a few hours or a day or something like that. I used it right away
2:54
I didn't have any problems with it. So now I can just gently push the door open
2:59
It catches. I can move in and out through that entryway or through that doorway when I need to
3:06
When I want to close it, I just give it a little tug and the door closes and it has
3:10
solved such a nuisance problem around the house. Again, I put the second one in a bedroom and now when I have the windows open, there's
3:19
no more slamming doors. I absolutely love this thing. The next on my list is a zipper bottom laundry bag
3:29
Now if you are going through your home collecting laundry from different rooms, this thing will
3:36
save you from bending over. It is so nice. It came, again, in a pack of two
3:42
I got them from Amazon. I have a gray one and a white one
3:45
So I mounted these onto the back of my kids' closet doors so that they can easily drop
3:52
their items in and then I can come along behind them when I want to do laundry
3:57
I come with my big basket. I put it right underneath their bag
4:02
I unzip it. The clothes drop into my big basket. I zip it back up and I'm done
4:08
I don't have to lean over. I don't have to carry extra baskets
4:12
Everything kind of stays in place. It prevents me from having to make multiple trips, from carrying their baskets up and
4:18
down the stairs. It prevents me from having to bend over to get all of their laundry out and it's also
4:26
very easy for them to pick their own clothes up and put them away
4:31
It has this big, giant, oval kind of opening so that anyone can just easily throw their
4:38
items in. It has a couple of pockets in the front so if you wanted to use it for other things
4:43
maybe you want to put delicates or separate some things, or you wanted to use it for a
4:48
different purpose altogether, maybe you have stuffed animals or something like that, you
4:51
can do that. But the best feature, by far, is the fact that it has that zipper bottom on it and the
4:58
things drop right into your Big Hamper and you can carry them on your way
5:04
The bags do come with the over-the-door hooks as well as the sticky pads
5:10
For me, the over-the-door hooks would set it too high for my kids to reach, although
5:15
it's a perfect height for an adult. So if you don't want to put the sticky pads on your doors, you can always use the over-the-door hooks
5:22
But for them, I use the sticky pads so that I can lower them down just a bit at their
5:26
height and it's still perfect enough for me to unzip, to dump out their clothes into my
5:32
main basket, zip it back up, and go on my way. I absolutely love it
5:36
The next problem solver on this list are iron-on duvet snaps. Now if you like to have a duvet insert and a duvet cover that you switch out from time
5:46
to time, this is the perfect solution if you're running into the problem where your duvet
5:52
insert is sliding around inside your cover. Now normally the duvet cover will have ties or you may have like buttons and loops that
6:01
will help secure the filling, the duvet insert, to the cover itself
6:06
Because essentially the cover is just like a giant pillowcase for your bed
6:12
So you want to have it nice and secure so that you don't end up with this thin sheet
6:17
at the top and all of your stuffing slid down to the bottom because your ties didn't stay
6:22
in place or whatever it is. So the snaps are a perfect solution
6:28
You just have to iron them on, you don't need any sewing skills at all, they're washable
6:32
so they'll stay on through the wash. The pack that I have is a set of 16, which means you will have basically 8 snaps to use
6:43
because one is a snap for the cover and one is a snap for the insert
6:47
And together that's going to make sort of one set. So you have 8 sets all together, a total of 16 snaps
6:55
That's enough for you to do 2 smaller beds. If you have a larger bed, like a kink bed, I wouldn't necessarily use only 4 snaps at
7:06
each corner. I would actually put some at the midpoint as well. So let's say you had a kink bed, you wanted to use 8 snaps to have one at each corner
7:13
and then one at each midpoint. That one pack would last you for that just one bed
7:20
This is just fantastic. I cannot tell you how many times, even with the ties, that some of them always just end
7:28
up coming undone. And so while some of the insert may be in position, other parts of it, this corner may
7:35
be off, this side may be off, the snaps are a really great way to secure that in place
7:41
and have been a fantastic problem solver in my home. So following the same theme as the iron-on duvet snaps, I have found that the best rug
7:54
grippers, especially for the bathroom rugs, are these Velcro grippers. So they don't require you to iron them on
8:05
They do have a sticky on one end, one end stays on the floor, the other stays with the
8:10
rug, and they have a very strong Velcro in between. When I say a strong Velcro, I mean these stay in place
8:19
I can run a vacuum over them on a low suction and they will stay in place
8:24
They have been absolutely fantastic. I can't tell you how many rug grippers I've been through for the bathroom that just won't stay
8:33
These have been fantastic and they are the Velcro kind. Now normally if you have a large area rug for your bedroom or for the living room, dining
8:44
room, whatever, you have quarters curling, there are a lot of different things to keep
8:48
those rugs in place. But when you're talking about rugs that you want to be able to wash and you know you're
8:53
going to have to keep pulling them up and pulling them up and you don't want to have to replace your grip or your stripping every single time, the Velcro ones are the best
9:04
Now with time, some of that adhesive will start to give on you
9:09
It may be that you have one piece that has curled on the floor and now kind of dust has
9:15
gotten into it and that stickiness isn't working anymore. I haven't had any issues where the adhesive on the rug end has come off, but I have had
9:24
some where it's starting to let go on the floor. So in the course of let's say two and a half years, I have four rugs, two in my main bathroom
9:37
and two in my guest bathroom. So we've got four quarters on each of those rugs
9:42
So a total of 16 of these little Velcro grippers, I've replaced three
9:49
And I think that is just really fantastic considering how inexpensive they were
9:55
Even if I had to replace them once a year, I think I would be happy with that considering
9:59
I do wash them fairly often. So if you are like me and you have rugs in the bathroom that don't have good grip on
10:08
them on their own and you want that little extra to kind of set them down and keep them
10:14
in place and be able to run a quick vacuum over them without them kind of just getting
10:19
sucked up into the vacuum, try these Velcro grippers. They've been a great problem solver
