Hi, I'm Lindsay Diane from Diane Decor.com
0:05
In this video, we're going to talk all about how to accessorize your home on a budget
0:10
If you've ever tried one of those HGTV style room makeovers yourself, you know that all those
0:18
little accessories and fine details really add up very quickly. And it's hard to get that finished, polished look if you're working with a tight budget
0:29
So in this video, I'm going to share with you five different ways to accessorize your home on a budget
0:36
Let's get started. The first trick to accessorizing your home on a budget is to break up sets
0:43
So you want to buy something that comes in a set, whether it's baskets or nested tables
0:51
It could be a series of artwork panels. Anything that comes into a set, consider brainstorm
0:59
breaking it up instead of using it all together. This way you can kind of spread around the love
1:05
and decorate multiple spaces in a room or multiple spaces in your home from one purchase
1:13
The next tip for accessorizing your home on a budget is to focus on a larger state item
1:20
instead of a bunch of small little accent pieces. So instead of you living it up like a queen
1:28
at Dollar Tree and coming out with 40 little teeny tiny items, instead take that money and go to a
1:36
consignment shop. Buy something more substantial, like a really tall floor vase or a large
1:45
piece of framed artwork, something that is going to really draw the eye visually just because
1:52
of its size. You don't want to have a bunch of little trinket items on your
1:58
end table or on your console table when you could have a beautiful vintage style mirror for the same
2:05
price So consider focusing in on a large piece of artwork that going to have a better impact visually on your space than a bunch of little small items to fill out bookshelves and tabletops
2:23
You can do this by going to a consignment shop. That is my number one stop for finding something that's a good quality and substantial
2:33
sometimes the thrift stores like Goodwill and Salvation Army are just hit and miss
2:40
I mean, you could go to five or six and still not find something that you'd like
2:44
but you're much more likely to find something at a consignment shop that's really good right off the bat
2:51
Another place that you can look at are places like home goods or at home or Burlington
2:58
You're going to find some really good deals at those places as well. So skip the dollar tree and the target dollar spot and instead go for something a little bit more substantial for your money
3:11
Number three is consignment shop. We just mentioned that. Now, a consignment store is your best friend
3:20
I love to thrift things secondhand, but like I said before, when I go to Goodwill or the Salvation Army or some of these other
3:31
local secondhand stores, I usually come up empty. I mean, it's once in a blue moon that I can
3:37
really score big. Usually it's on like a picture frame that I'm going to, you know, take whatever
3:44
the picture is out and just kind of keep the frame. Sometimes I can find some nice baskets
3:50
but, you know, other than that, I think I've found a lamp here or there and nothing really
3:56
really great that I wanted to be able to put into my home unless I'm really going for a DIY project
4:03
Now, of course, that's another way to save money, but that's another video altogether
4:07
So I'm not talking about things that you are going to have to salvage and refinish and paint and do all that
4:13
I made something that you're going to take from the store, bring it into your home, and it's ready
4:18
to go and it going to look incredible And the consignment shop is the place for that when you shopping on a budget So go there look for it going to be set up like a showroom So pretty much anything that you see
4:34
odds are it's for sale. So they're going to set up a little living room scene, a dining room scene
4:41
all the plates and the dishes that you see are going to be on sale. The chairs, the furniture are going to be on sale
4:47
Anything that they've used to decorate that room, the rugs, the artificial plants and trees, anything that's hanging on the wall, all of it is for sale
4:58
Everything down to the pillows that are cushioning the chairs. They're going to be on sale
5:04
So go to a consignment shop that's the best and fastest way to get something affordable on a budget to decorate and accessorize your home
5:13
Number four is to consider unconventional wall decor. So instead of just having this narrow focus and saying
5:21
okay, I need a piece of framed artwork for my wall, consider other things like hanging decorative baskets
5:29
Consider macrame, tapestries, other types of sculptural wall art. Consider a DIY resin art piece that you can put together yourself
5:40
Think about making a organic multimedia gallery wall. These are all alternative ways to decorate a large wall on a budget
5:53
You don't have to buy a 50 by 60 framed print for your wall
6:02
You can go about accessorizing your walls by using some unconventional means
6:08
Usually this is going to be a series or a collection of things
6:11
So again, back to the sets kind of thing. You may have a set of decorative wall baskets that you can put together there
6:19
Or you can break them up and put them around your house. But if you're looking for a wall decor option, consider things like rugs and tapestries and macrame
6:32
Consider hanging plants and floating shelves Think about gallery walls Think about using string lights and other different means to decorate your walls
6:47
You can even hang curtains even when there isn't a window. There are a lot of creative ways to go about it
6:54
Especially now that there is a peel and stick version of just about everything
6:59
So if you like maybe a tech. accent wall, there are so many to choose from now, especially on Amazon and Walmart
7:10
You can have all these peel and stick 3D tiles that you could put up on your wall
7:15
and they're a very budget-friendly option for accessorizing your home. Last but not least, consider homegrown decor, and by that I mean plants
7:27
I talked about this in a recent video, the five simple things to decorate your home
7:32
your living room. Plants are a great way to decorate your home on a budget, especially if you've grown
7:39
them from seeds. They're practically free. But whether you go artificial or real or you buy a mature
7:48
potted plant or tree or you're growing it from seeds, these are all generally very affordable
7:56
ways to decorate your space and fill out a space. So whether you have floor space that's open
8:02
and you want a larger tree or you have some coffee table space or bookshelf space that you want to put some small little potted plants on
8:12
This is a great way to accessorize your space. Consider plants. Those are the five ways to accessorize your home on a budget. I hope you found this video helpful
