the holiday season is right around the corner and the stores are absolutely filled with holiday
0:07
decor moreover they're filled with holiday crafting items if you have never done a diy
0:14
home decor project this is the perfect time to do it there is no better time than the christmas
0:20
season to dive into diy home decor it's easy everything is readily available and you can get
0:27
things really really inexpensively in this video I want to show you how I made
0:33
this little forest vignette for my kitchen I recycled a tray that I already
0:39
own I got the bottle brush trees and just some little putty and some rocks and
0:45
that's it that's all I needed to create this I absolutely love the way it looked
0:50
and I'm gonna show you exactly how to put together something just like this in
0:54
this video. Hi, I'm Lindsay Diane from DianeDecor.com. In this video, I'm going to show you how to make
1:00
this Bottle Brush Forest. It is very simple. You only need three simple things and a tray. You can
1:08
use a round tray, you can use a narrow tray, any sort of tray you want. You do not have to have the
1:13
one that I got. I did purchase mine from Target last year. I believe it's still available in store
1:20
it's from the hearth in hand with magnolia line but you truly you can get any tray to do this
1:26
just make sure that it has a little bit of an edge so that when you put your snow base on there
1:30
it's held in by the tray for me the biggest challenge that I have during the holiday season
1:43
is the transition between Christmas and after Christmas once all of that Christmas decor comes down and it just that winter season until you get up to spring everything just looks so drab especially from going with garland and the Christmas tree and the lights to almost nothing
2:03
The house just looks so bare and it looks so sad. And I wanted to make sure that this year I picked a theme that would have a layer of decor that could transition with me through to the winter
2:16
so not just Santas and reindeers and Christmas trees. I wanted something that was a little bit
2:22
more winter themed that could carry me through the seasons. And so when I was looking on Pinterest
2:27
last year, I saw this little bottle brush forest. It was this cute little bottle brush forest that
2:35
someone made and they put it in a tray. They had it on their kitchen counter and it looked
2:39
absolutely stunning. I loved every bit of it. It was simple, it was classy, it was timeless
2:47
and it looked like a really easy DIY project. But unfortunately, when I went to go buy the
2:53
bottle brushes that that person used, they were all sold out. Now, I wanted these particular
3:00
brushes because they had very, very large trees. A lot of the sets of the bottle brush trees come
3:07
with teeny tiny little trees. At most your biggest tree might be like six inches but this one had
3:13
trees that were over nine inches tall and that's what I wanted. A nice kind of robust display
3:18
for the kitchen because I didn't want all those little tiny trees to get kind of lost in the mix
3:22
I wanted it to be able to be seen. I wanted the big trees so I said hey I'll revisit it next year
3:28
and I'll see if I can try it again. And sure enough once that Halloween stuff cleared out of
3:33
Michaels, I went back to the site, I found that bottle brush set and it was on sale
3:39
It comes with 21 trees and it only right now on the Michaels site Regularly it I don expect to see it at that price at all this year
3:51
I think it's gonna stay around that $15 price point until they sell out, but it is a great set
3:58
I'll link everything that I used in this project in the description box below
4:03
so that you can check them out. I'll also link a few alternative pieces
4:07
in case something is sold out. The set of trees itself comes with 21 different trees. Now for the tray that I have, I bought two
4:23
boxes. I knew that I'd have a little bit left over, but I wanted to make sure that I had a really big
4:29
full display. So I did buy two boxes of these to give me 42 trees. I had some left over that I ended
4:35
up using for a smaller vignette that I put in my bathroom. I'll show you that in a minute
4:41
But for this, I just started out by spreading out the trees, getting an idea of a good balance
4:49
between high and low on the tray, just to make sure it looked nice. And then what I ended up
4:54
doing was I took this little museum putty. I put the museum putty on the bottom of each of the
5:00
trees and stuck them onto the tray. I wanted, of course, something that was going to be easily
5:05
removable because I like to use this tray over and over again throughout the seasons with different
5:10
decor. So I didn't want any sort of permanent installations. I didn't want any glue. I didn't
5:15
want any paint, anything like that, which is what makes this such a really easy DIY. All I used were
5:22
the bottle brush trees, the little putty on the bottom. I went ahead and lined them all up the way
5:29
that I liked it. You can still kind of pick them up and move them around, but for the most part, They pretty sturdy once you press them down And that was it Then all I had to do was fill in around the base of the trees with something to kind of resemble snow Again I wanted something that was easily removable
5:46
I had these little decorative white rocks and they worked perfectly. I just sprinkled them in throughout the trees and that was it
5:54
The whole little forest tray was done. I could easily pick up the tray
5:58
I moved it to my kitchen. I set it down exactly where I wanted it
6:02
It was perfect. DIY project. It was inexpensive. I had two of the three things or two of the four things, right? I
6:41
had the tray. I had some of the rocks. The rocks are inexpensive. You can always purchase those for
6:45
five or six dollars. And I just purchased the putty and I purchased the trees and that's it
6:52
And I have something that I can undo really easily, but it's also going to work for the
6:57
Christmas season and for the winter season post-Christmas. That's it for this easy DIY Christmas
7:04
project. I hope you give it a try. Thank you so much for watching and don't forget to visit me
