Let me introduce you to one of the coolest new additions to my backyard patio.ย  Itโ€™s the Sunnydaze Meranti Wood Outdoor Planter Box Bench and I absolutely love it!

Sunnydaze Planter Bench

Iโ€™ve had my eye on the Sunnydaze Meranti Wood Outdoor Planter Box Bench for a while.ย  At least a year.ย  So I was so glad when Sunnydaze reached out for a partnership and offered to send it to me for free.

This bench is 68 inches long and can seat 2 people.ย  The weight capacity is 330.

It is made from solid Meranti wood with a teak oil finish.

You can purchase the Sunnydaze planter bench for under $200 on the Sunnydaze website.

Unboxing

Let me start off by saying the box is very heavy.ย  Moving this out to the patio solo was a chore.ย ย

That being said, I knew that this meant the Sunnydaze planter bench was made of solid wood and would likely stand the test of time.

Once I opened the box I could see that it was packed very well.ย  I was surprised to see very few pieces.ย  Itโ€™s really just the 4 sides for each planter box (8 total) and the bench top.ย  The bench top was the piece that was making the box so heavy.

Note: Planter pots are not included.

Assembly

The assembly was an absolute breeze.ย  In fact, the assembly instructions is only 1 page. Iโ€™m not sure Iโ€™ve ever seen that for a piece of furniture.

I had two โ€œhelpersโ€ that frankly slowed me down.ย  But, they had fun helping Mommy, so that was fine with me.ย ย It took me about 15 minutes to assemble.

Iโ€™d say you could assemble this in 5 or 10 minutes solo.

Assembly consists of connecting two inside panels and two outside panels with locking screws for each planter box.ย  Then, the bench top nestled perfectly right on top.ย  It sets down into grooves that are on each planter box.

At first, I was surprised that it did not screw down, but then quickly realized this was better for me.ย ย

If the bench top had screwed permanently into place there was no way I was going to be able to move this around solo.

Luckily, I was able to lift off the bench top and move each of the planter boxes (which are fairly light) to the location I wanted my bench.ย  Then I was able to set to bench top back down.

Important: If your bench feels wobbly or uneven when you sit on it for the first time, pull the inside panels of each planter box inward slightly to level it out.

Styling & Planting

What I really love about the Sunnydaze Planter Bench is that you can style it in a variety of ways.

You can use small potted trees (real or faux), flowers, solar lamp post lights, or even some faux grass with these cool solar swaying lights.

Frankly, I struggle to keep up with plants Iโ€™ve direct seeded into the ground. This planter makes it easy for me to just drop in a 5-gallon seasonal plant and be done. It looks like Iโ€™ve done a lot more work than I really did.

Moreover, because I know that I can move this around anytime I want, Iโ€™m able to plant a variety of things. If I wanted herbs or a plant that needs full sun next year I can use the Sunnydaze planter bench in a new location in the yard.

I love that.

To make my springtime gardening a breeze this year, I used some potted impatiens I picked up from Aldi.

One thing worth noting is how deep these planter boxes are. They are very deep.

Theyโ€™re 15.5 inches wide and 18.75 inches tall. Since most planter pots arenโ€™t that tall, you will likely have to place your pots on top of something to raise them up as I did.

To do this I flipped an empty basket upside down and then placed the potted plant on top.

There were a number of spots in the backyard that would work for this bench, but I ultimately decided to use it under the canopy with the rest of my patio furniture for additional seating.

I added some string lights as a backdrop to create a feature wall behind the bench.

Final Thoughts

The final look is better than I even imagined.ย  I was a bit worried that the coloring of the Sunnydaze planer bench would clash with my dark brown faux rattan furniture.ย  But, they look great together.

Here are my final thoughts on my experience with this bench.

PROS and CONS

PRO: Solid wood and very sturdy

The wood is solid and sturdy.ย  I have no fear of falling through the bench or it splitting under heavy weight.

PRO: Easy assembly

The assembly truly couldnโ€™t have been easier.

PRO: Natural Neutral Color

The coloring of the wood has a great neutral tone that will go well with most other colors or wood finishes.

PRO: Priced well

For the high-quality wood youโ€™re receiving, I think this bench is priced very well.ย  You wonโ€™t be disappointed with your purchase.

CON: Weight Capacity

While the Sunnydaze planter bench claims to seat 2 people, this wonโ€™t hold two average-sized (aka slightly overweight) adults.ย  With most men hovering around 200lbs by themselves, this wonโ€™t likely be able to hold an adult couple.

Instead, itโ€™s great for an adult and a child or 2 or 3 kids.

Overall the Sunnydaze Meranti Outdoor Planter Box Bench is fantastic.ย  Thanks so much to Sunnydaze for the collaboration.ย ย
